17 national treasures go on display in HCM City for first time

VOV.VN - Seventeen national treasures are being exhibited together for the first time in Ho Chi Minh City, offering visitors a unique glimpse into Vietnam’s rich cultural and historical legacy, from prehistoric periods to the modern age.

This unprecedented showcase brings together rare artifacts from the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History, Ho Chi Minh City Museum, Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts, and the private collection of renowned collector Pham Gia Chi Bao.

For the first time, the public can view a ceramic pot from the Dong Son culture, dating back 2,500 to 2,000 years. The artifact, part of Pham Gia Chi Bao’s collection, was officially recognized as a National Treasure in 2024.

Also on display are precious artifacts representing the Oc Eo culture, dating from the 2nd–5th and 6th–7th centuries. These pieces are preserved at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History and were granted National Treasure status in 2012.

The Ho Chi Minh City Museum is also showcasing two important relics from 1833 and 1947, which were recognized as national treasures in 2018 and 2020, respectively. This marks their first public appearance.

As of 2025, Vietnam has recognised 327 artifacts and artifact groups as national treasures. In Ho Chi Minh City, 17 of these are housed across public institutions and private collections.

The exhibition opened on June 29 at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History and will run through August 10, marking a rare and meaningful opportunity for the public to experience these treasures firsthand.
