Vietnam-Indonesia trade hits US$2.5 billion

About 50 Vietnamese and Indonesian businesses gathered in Ho Chi Minh City on November 13 to explore co-operation opportunities and boost bilateral trading.

They also exchanged information on issues of common concern at a business luncheon hosted by the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia.

“Last year, bilateral trade between Vietnam and Indonesia was US$2.52 billion. Imports from Indonesia were valued at US$1.8 billion while Vietnam’s exports was US$700 million,” said Dalton Sembiring, Acting Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia, in Ho Chi Minh City. He added that Indonesian businesses have invested US$180 million in 22 projects in Vietnam.

The Acting Consul General called for regular market research on both countries as part of the efforts to increase bilateral trade.
