Vietnam will host the 14th Assembly of the Asian Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI) in 2018, become a member of the ASOSAI Governing Board in the 2015-18 tenure, and chair the organisation from 2018-2021.
The information was announced at the 13th Assembly of the ASOSAI held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on February 10, with the participation of 180 delegates from audit institutions across 40 countries.
Delegates discussed several important reports at the event, including the 2012-2014 ASOSAI financial report and the approved 2016-2018 budgets.
They also agreed on measures to tighten cooperation between the ASOSAI and the European Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI).
The ASOSAI was founded in 1979 as a regional group of the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Courts. It holds meetings every three years to exchange views on careful and responsible monitoring of public fund spending.
Deputy Auditor General of the State Audit Office of Vietnam Doan Xuan Tien said that Vietnam was an active participant in the 13th Assembly. The delegation spoke at the 6th symposium on boosting technological application to raise audit efficiency.
The delegation also attended the Supreme Audit Institutions Summit of ASEAN member states (ASEANSAI). The State Audit of Vietnam, as Head of the Strategic Planning Committee of ASEANSAI, gave a report on the monitoring and evaluation systems of the ASEANSAI.
The Supreme Audit Institutions of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia also discussed and determined amendments to their agreement on cooperation and the sharing of information and experience.
