Japan, Vietnam enhance defence ties

(VOV) - Both Vietnam and Japan want to step up defence cooperation through delegation exchange and cooperation in personnel training and other fields of mutual concern.

This was affirmed by Lieutenant General Vo Van Tuan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and visiting Nobushige Takamizawa, President of the National Institute for Defence Studies under Japan’s Ministry of Defence at their meeting in Hanoi on June 3.

The two defence leaders recalled the traditional relationship between Vietnam and Japan over the past four decades, saying that bilateral defence cooperation has grown considerably.

Takamizawa informed Tuan about the outcomes of his working sessions with Vietnam’s National Defence Academy, Institute for Defence Strategy, and Institute for International Defence Relations.
