Thai King adds new members to advisory body
Thailand’s new King Maha Vajiralongkorn on December 6 cut down the number of members of the Privy Council, an appointed advisory body to the Monarch of Thailand, to 11 instead of 16 previously, with three new members, according to the Royal Gazette.
Education Minister Dapong Ratanasuwan and Justice Minister Paiboon Koom chaya as well as former army chief Teerachai Nakwanich are the newly-appointed members.
The two ministers are expected to be replaced shortly in a cabinet reshuffle.
Earlier on December 2, Thailand’s Royal Gazette also reported that King Maha Vajiralongkorn re-appointed former regent Prem Tinsulanonda as head of the Privy Council.
