Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has invited Thais to refrain from vices during the Buddhist Lent period and maintain the current state of peace and order.

Government Spokesperson Maj Gen Sansern Kaewkumnerd relayed the Prime Minister’s message to the public on the occasion of Buddhist Lent, inviting all to refrain from vices, perform good deeds, and cultivate a serene and pure mind. The Prime Minister said that Buddhist Lent is not only a time to refrain from inappropriate acts, such as drinking, gambling or overindulgence, but also a time to dedicate one's efforts to meditating, giving alms, adhering to Buddhist virtues, and listening to Buddhist sermons.

The Prime Minister urged all Thais to preserve the current state of peace and order to maintain international credibility and for the country to be able to move forward with the administration's reform roadmap. Gen Prayut also expressed his concern for those traveling during the long weekend and urged motorists to obey traffic laws, refrain from careless driving, and be considerate to others on the road.

According to the spokesperson, the Prime Minister has also sent his praise to the Thai students who were able to win eight medals from the 2016 International Exhibition for Young Inventors in China. He said the achievement demonstrates the capabilities of Thailand’s youths and brings joy to the Thai people.
