Philippines bombing: police detain a suspect

Philippine police have taken into custody a man who may be involved in September 2 night's blast that killed 14 people and injured nearly 70 others in the southern city of Davao.

Mayor of Davao city Sara Duterte told reporters that the suspect was in the night market along Roxas Avenue, and was later taken up for questioning.

However, nobody has been arrested or formally accused in connection with the terror attack.

Earlier, the municipal authorities announced a US$42,900 reward to anybody who can give "credible information that would provide the name and whereabouts of the suspect and who can deliver the suspect to the city police”.

The mayor said she wants the suspect to be alive to ask him about the reason for the attack and participants in the terror act.

Police chief of Davao city Michael Dubria told a press conference last weekend that police investigators are hunting for three or four involved persons who were reportedly seen by witnesses in the area before the blast.
