Myanmar conducts first joint military manoeuver

Myanmar’s military has conducted a joint manoeuver of ground, air and artillery forces at Meiktila station, the first of its kind since the new government took office on April 1, local media reported on September 24.

The event saw the presence of many senior military officials, including Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services Min Aung Hlaing and his deputy Soe Win, and Commander-in-Chief of the Air Force Khin Aung Myint.

Opening the drill, Min Aung Hlaing said the manoeuver is aimed at preventing foreign invasion and urging the troops to make efforts to build a strong army.
