Vietnam, Myanmar treasure bilateral ties

The Governments of Vietnam and Myanmar attach importance to preserving and further developing the time-honoured friendship and multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries.

This aims to serve interests of the two countries’ people, cooperation and solidarity of ASEAN, as well as peace, stability and cooperation in the region, said Prime Minister Nguyen XuanPhuc and State Counsellor and Foreign Minister of Myanmar Aung San SuuKyi of Myanmar during their meeting on the sidelines of the 28th and 29th ASEAN Summits and related meetings in Vientiane, Laos, on September 7.

The two sides agreed to continue their coordination within the framework of ASEAN and at regional and international forums, promote intra-ASEAN solidarity and its central role, and contribute to peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world at large.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc suggested the Myanmar Government create the best possible conditions for Vietnamese businesses in the country, particularly in real estate, banking, telecommunications, aviation, mining, tourism and agriculture.

Stressing the close-knit ties between the two countries, Aung San SuuKyi noted her hope to deepen the relationship.

She informed that Myanmar President HtinKyo will visit Vietnam to attend the eighth Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam (CLMV) Summit and the seventh Ayeyawady - Chao Phraya - Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy ( ACMECS ) Summit scheduled for this October in Hanoi.
