Indonesia to host int’l conference on Palestine - Israel conflict

Indonesia will host an international conference in the capital city of Jakarta from December 14-15, aiming to search peace solutions for the prolonged conflict in the Middle East.
According to Foreign Ministry’s Director General of Multilateral Relations Hasan Kleib, the event is co-organised by the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Right of the Palestinian People (CEIRP) and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Themed “Addressing the present and shaping the future of Jerusalem”, the event is expected to see the participation of international experts, including those from the Palestine, Israel and representatives from the diplomatic circle.
The event will focus on five major topics, including border issues, Palestinian repatriates, condition of illegal settlements of Israel and Palestine’s internal security.
Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia Fariz Mehdawi said the historical ceremony to raise the flag of Palestine at the UN’s headquarter last September demonstrated the organisation’s determination in looking for a peaceful solution for the issue.
Statistic of the Palestine’s Ministry of Health showed that more than 100 Palestinian were killed and over 4,000 others were injured during clashes between Palestinians and Israelis since October this year, while the casualties on the Israeli side were 19.
