Cuba, EU relations normalization talks progress

VOV.VN - Cuban and EU chief negotiators expressed optimism at separate press meetings following the 7th round of Cuba-EU negotiations on political dialogue and cooperation.

Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Abelardo Moreno said they have obtained positive progress and are close to sealing an agreement to normalize relations that soured two decades ago.

Cuban and EU negotiators said talks could be concluded for the March 10-11 visit to Havana by EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini. Christian Leffler, EU Deputy Secretary General for Economic and Global at the European External Action Service said both sides reached agreement on important issues.

The chief negotiators said the Cuba-EU normalization negotiation is separated from the Cuba-US normalization talks.
