CRAFV asks China to respect PCA ruling
VOV.VN - The Council of Representatives of French and Vietnamese Associations (CRAFV) have asked China to respect the Permanent Court of Arbitration’s ruling on the Philippines lawsuit against China’s claims in the East Sea.
On August 10, the Council sent its petition to the French President, government, and parliament, the European Parliament and Committee, the embassies in France of China, the US, and other countries.
The Council said China’s acts violated the Philippines’ sovereignty, devastated the marine environment, violated international law, and the sovereignty and rights of the Philippines and other regional countries.
The petition called on government and political agencies of the EU, the US, and ASEAN to take necessary actions to persuade China to respect the PCA ruling, and the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and halt its illegal construction of artificial islands, militarizing those islands, and illegally hindering Vietnamese fishermen from doing their work.
Earlier, the Council issued a statement showing their support of the July 12 PCA’s ruling and asking China to respect the ruling.
