VITM Hanoi hit by delay following fresh COVID-19 outbreaks
VOV.VN - The latest discovery of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Da Nang and Quang Ngai province has forced the Vietnam International Travel Mart (VITM Hanoi) to be postponed due to fears surrounding the global epidemic.
This comes after an announcement made by the Vietnam Tourism Association on July 27, adding that they would choose a reasonable time in which to re-arrange the event later this year, although any re-scheduled occasion would be dependent on COVID-19 developments and directions issued by the Government.
The latest delay marks the third time that VITM Hanoi has been canceled due to the impact of the global pandemic.
Previously, VITM Hanoi had been scheduled to take place between April 1 and April 4.
It was then pushed back to between May 14 and May 17, and most recently it was set to be held between August 12 to August 15.
The occasion is held annually, with the 2019 version of the event attracting over 85,000 arrivals, with 502 stalls on display by 720 exhibitors from 27 countries globally.
The morning of July 27 saw the country record no fresh COVID-19 cases, with the overall number of confirmed cases remaining at 420, with the three latest cases involving local transmission being reported on July 26, including two from the central city of Da Nang and one from Quang Ngai province.
