Villa Vie Odyssey to make first overnight stay in Nha Trang Bay
VOV.VN - Villa Vie Odyssey, a Bahamas-flagged 5-star cruise ship, will become the first cruise vessel to make an overnight stay in Nha Trang Bay, Khanh Hoa province, during its four-day visit to the province.
The ship is scheduled to stay in the area from August 12 to 15, allowing passengers to spend more time exploring destinations across Khanh Hoa, according to Thai Thi Le Hang, director of the Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Operated by Villa Vie Residences, Villa Vie Odyssey is a residential cruise ship that travels continuously around the world. Its itineraries typically include extended stays of two to seven days at ports of call, giving passengers more time to explore and experience each destination.
According to the Nha Trang Maritime Port Authority under the Vietnam Maritime and Waterway Administration, passengers will be transferred to the Ana Marina International Yacht Club before visiting Nha Trang and surrounding destinations.
The ship is also expected to return to Nha Trang in September, with a planned stay from September 13 to 16, providing passengers with another opportunity to explore Khanh Hoa and contributing to the development of the province's cruise tourism.
Khanh Hoa is attracting an increasing number of international cruise ships as the province seeks to expand its tourism offerings and encourage longer stays among cruise passengers.
In 2026, eight international cruise ships have been scheduled to call at Khanh Hoa, including Costa Serena, flying the Italian flag, which is scheduled to make two calls; Le Jacques Cartier of France; Luminara of Malta; Arcadia of Bermuda; and Island Sky, Odyssey and The World, all flying the Bahamas flag.
The growing number of extended cruise stays provides a foundation for Khanh Hoa to gradually develop a home-porting model, in which cruise ships use the province as the starting or ending point of their voyages rather than simply making short port-of-call visits.
