Vietnamese tourism introduced in Cambodia

VOV.VN - A tourism promotion programme titled “Roadshow: Vietnam-Ho Chi Minh City Tourism in Cambodia” was held on June 19 in Phnom Penh as part of efforts to elevate the image of tourist destinations and provide an update on Vietnam’s latest tourism services and products.

During the event, Minister Counselor of the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia Ngo Van Tuat underscored the importance of the scheme in boosting tourism co-operation between the two countries  as well as between Ho Chi Minh City and Phnom Penh.

He expressed his hope to see Ho Chi Minh City’s potential and tourism services introduced to a large number of Cambodian people and businesses, thereby opening up a wealth of opportunities for tourism businesses and increasing the number of tourists among the two sides.

Meanwhile, Bui Thi Ngoc Hieu, deputy director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, revealed that with advantages of medical tourism, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism and the municipal Department of Health have been co-ordinating efforts to help tourism firms complete medical tourism product packages.

She added that the tourism promotion programme will contribute to creating new opportunities for both Vietnamese and Cambodian tourism businesses to gain greater insights into the potential for further co-operation, thereby capturing the travel demand and expanding linkages moving forward.

For his part, Prak Chandara, Under Secretary of State of the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism, expressed his belief that the programme will serve to attract more tourists among the two countries in the post-COVID period, thereby contributing to the Vietnam-Cambodia time-honoured relationship and solidarity.

Last year saw Cambodian tourists to Vietnam reach nearly 200,000, ranking fourth among foreign tourists to the Vietnamese market.

Meanwhile, the nation was also one of the countries recording the highest number of people traveling to Cambodia with more than 466,000 travelers last year, thereby accounting for 21.7% and ranking second in the list of foreign visitors to the Cambodian market.
