Vietnam tourism booth attracts visitors at travel show in Algiers

VOV.VN - Vietnam’s tourism destinations and travel products are capturing interest from international visitors at the International Tourism and Travel Show (SITEV) 2026, taking place from May 18 to 21 in Algiers, which attracted around 450 businesses and organizations from 41 countries.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Algeria, in coordination with major Vietnamese travel firms Saigontourist and Vietravel, set up a booth introducing tours and destinations in Vietnam.

Alongside promotional materials from the two companies, the Vietnam pavilion displayed large-format photographs of well-known attractions, including Hoan Kiem Lake, Trang An Landscape Complex, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, Hoi An Ancient Town, Ban Gioc Waterfall and the terraced rice fields of Mu Cang Chai.

Embassy staff guided visitors through Vietnam’s visa procedures and provided additional travel information to international guests. Visitors to the booth also had an opportunity to sample Vietnamese coffee and tea.

This year’s fair carries the theme “Algeria, authentic tourism and sustainable development,” showing the Algerian government’s efforts to develop tourism into a new economic pillar alongside the energy sector.

According to Algeria’s Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts, SITEV 2026 featured participation from travel companies, hotel groups, airlines, financial institutions and investment promotion agencies. Around 50 startups specializing in digital services and smart tourism also joined the event.

SITEV 2026 is considered Algeria’s largest tourism event this year. Alongside activities promoting destinations, accommodation services, hotels and emerging tourism trends, the fair also features business networking forums, industry seminars and investment matchmaking programs between Algerian companies and international partners.

One of this year’s highlights is an area dedicated to Algerian handicrafts and traditional products, particularly items from the Sahara Desert, aimed at promoting cultural heritage and domestic tourism.

Algerian officials expect the fair to help boost the country’s 2026 summer tourism season, increase international visitor numbers and enhance Algeria’s image as an emerging destination in North Africa and the Mediterranean region.
