Vietnam tops Cambodia’s international visitor markets in 2025
VOV.VN - Vietnam was the largest source of international visitors to Cambodia in 2025, according to statistics released by the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism.
Out of more than 5.5 million international arrivals recorded during the year, Vietnamese visitors accounted for over 1.22 million. China ranked second with around 1.2 million arrivals, followed by Thailand with just over 1 million.
Despite a slight year-on-year decline, the Vietnamese market continued to serve as an important source of visitors, helping Cambodia sustain tourism revenue. The ministry noted a clear shift in travel patterns in 2025, with air arrivals rising by nearly 20% while land travel fell sharply, showing efforts to expand direct flights and upgrade aviation infrastructure.
Although total international arrivals declined by more than 10% compared with 2024, tourism revenue was estimated at US$3.7 billion, up about 3%. This outcome was attributed to a focus on higher-spending visitors and the diversification of destinations beyond the Angkor complex.
The National Bank of Cambodia cautioned that tourism growth could face headwinds in the second half of the year, citing border-related tensions with Thailand and cybercrime concerns.
