VOV.VN - The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) is implementing a program to promote the country’s tourism in the three major Chinese cities of Chongqing, Huihu and Harbin on November 4 -11 within the framework of the national tourism program 2018.
In addition, the VNAT will coordinate with airlines to introduce direct air routes and push for the opening of more routes linking the two countries’ localities. Vietnam is considered an attractive tourist destination with delicious dishes, international standard accommodations and professional services, he added.
Meanwhile, a roadshow to introduce Vietnam’s tourism was held in Huihu city on November 7. This is the second time Vietnam has promoted tourism in the city, attracting representatives of nearly 400 travel companies.
Mr Phuong told the participants that opening a non-stop air route from Huihu to Nha Trang (one flight per week) facilitates travelling between the two localities.
The VNAT also held a similar program in Harbin City on November 9, the last stop on the promotional trip of Vietnam tourism in China this year.
With a population of 1.3 billion, China has become a potential tourism market for many countries. The World Tourism Organisation forecasts that around 220 million Chinese people will go abroad for holidays in 2025.
In the first 10 months of this year, Vietnam received 12.8 million foreign visitors, more than 4.18 of them came from China, up 28.8% against the same period last year and higher than the total number of Chinese tourists to the country last year. It is expected that more than 5 million Chinese people will visit Vietnam this year, 1 million more than last year.
