Vietnam promotes tourism in Australia

A programme was held in Sydney on August 17 to introduce the beauty of Vietnamese land, people and culture to Australians.

The event attracted over 80 businesses operating in the fields of tourism, hotel and aviation from the two countries.

Deputy head of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) Ngo Hoai Chung highlighted Vietnam’s tourism advantages, describing the country as a peaceful destination with rich natural resources, friendly and hospitable people.

Despite geographical distance, Vietnam and Australia have enjoyed sound diplomatic ties over the past 44 years, he said, adding that the two countries’ Governments pay great attention to boosting people-to-people exchanges.

Vietnam welcomed over 320,000 Australian visitors in 2016, up 5.6 percent against the previous year, and the figure was 218,000 in the first seven months of 2017, a year-on-year increase of 11.4 percent, Chung cited.

Australia is an important market of Vietnam’s tourism, and there is much room for the two sides to boost the exchange of tourists, he commented.

At the event, travel companies shared experience and strategies to draw visitors and seek new partners.

This was one of the three promotion events that the VNAT has held in Australia, together with Perth and Melbourne, from August 12-19 as part of the national tourism promotion programme 2017 and tourism development strategy through 2020 with a vision to 2030, which defines Australia as one of the key markets.-
