Duyet Thi Duong, considered the oldest theater in Vietnam, has been restored and is now open to the public in Hue.
The Hue Monuments Conservation Center has brought back art performances at the former royal theater and opened an exhibition section which displayed traditional art costumes, masks and other accessories.
The theater was built in 1826 under King Ming Mang and became the main performing art center of the Nguyen Dynasty, which ruled as the last feudal dynasty of Vietnam in Hue until 1945 .
Phan Thanh Hai, director of the conservation center, said the theater was aging and was heavily damaged by wars.
It has recently been restored to introduce royal dance, music and opera to the public, he said.
