Vietnam attends World Travel Mart in London
(VOV) - World Travel Market 2014 – a leading global event for the travel industry - kicked off in London with more than 50,000 people from 100 nations and territories around the globe in attendance on opening day.
A group of representatives from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), Vietnam Airlines and the travel industry are displaying the country’s latest tourism products and services at the four-day event taking place from November 3- 6.
Currently, visitors from the European market comprise just 14% of the total international arrivals to Vietnam and they hope to meet, network, negotiate, and conduct business to more broadly expand holiday travel from the European market.
At a press conference on November 4, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho Anh Tuan said the plan is to focus on expanding tourism in the European market for the period from 2015 to2017.
They are touting some very attractive travel promotions offering lucrative discounts for holiday packages to Son Doong cave, Dong Van Stone Plateau, and world heritage site Ha Long Bay among many other special deals.
Le Thanh Dung, chief representative of Vietnam Airlines in the UK says the opening of a direct air route linking London to Hanoi and HCM City, is resulting in increasing numbers of travellers from the UK.
In the time ahead, Vietnam Airlines will increase the number of direct flights between the UK and Vietnam to five per week and modernise its fleet with additional B787 and A3500 aircraft, Dung said.
Meanwhile, tourism Ambassador for Vietnam in Europe Bobby Chinn is also on hand to share his experiences of living and travelling in Vietnam and promote the nation’s unique culinary arts.
