Vietnam and India accelerate tourism cooperation
VOV.VN - Smita Pant, Consul General of India announced today (July 6) at a seminar in Ho Chi Minh City that the governments of India and Vietnam have agreed to cooperate in the promotion of mutually beneficial tourism.
The figures, she noted, are far below their full potential.
Both governments are optimistic that the number of travellers in both directions can be augmented through a concerted effort to introduce each other’s country through effective marketing and advertising campaigns.
Visa reforms along with the opening of more direct air routes between the two countries such as those recently launched by Viet Jet Air and Air India should also facilitate increased travel levels, Ms Pant added.
Nguyen Huu Y Yen, deputy director of Saigontourist, in turn raised the prospect of pitching spiritual tourism to Vietnamese to boost travel to India over the long-term, which he said is a rapidly growing segment of tourism worldwide.
