Vietnam among top 50 destinations Brits most want to visit
VOV.VN - Vietnam has been named among the top 50 countries Brits most want to visit, according to a recent survey by UK newspaper The Sun.
The country ranked 15th on the list of the top 50 most desired destinations. In Southeast Asia, Thailand placed 11th, followed by Singapore (17th), the Philippines (36th), Malaysia (38th), Cambodia (47th) and Indonesia (49th). Across Asia, Japan ranked second, followed by the Republic of Korea (23rd), India (26th) and China (29th).
Conducted among 2,000 UK travellers, the survey also revealed insights into travel habits and attitudes. About 43% said they compare the number of countries they have visited with others.
“Reasons for mentioning their ‘country count’ include wanting to impress others with their worldliness and sense of adventure, get others to think ‘that’s more than me’ or see them as ‘loaded’ with money”, the newspaper stressed.
Among those who mention their travel tally, 44% said they casually raise the subject in general holiday chatter, while 38% will jump at the chance to name a nation they’ve visited the second someone else mentions it.
The survey also revealed that some 34% of travellers consider their list of countries visited ‘as a bit of a badge of honour’ and a fifth feel ‘quietly superior’ to those who have been to fewer nations.
In a related ranking of the most visited destinations by UK travellers, Vietnam placed 40th, behind Thailand (26th), Singapore (28th) and Malaysia (37th). France, Spain, Italy, the United States, Germany and Greece were among the most visited countries.
