Vietnam Airlines officially launches flights at Sheremetyevo airport
VOV.VN - National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines, in collaboration with Russia’s Sheremetyevo International airport, has hosted a ceremony amid great fanfare to welcome the airline’s first flights to/from the airport.

On the same day, Vietnam Airlines held a welcome ceremony for the first flight coded VN62 which departed from Sheremetyevo airport. The ceremony saw the participation of Ngo Duc Manh, the Vietnamese ambassador to Russia, Le Thanh Dung, Chief Representative of Vietnam Airlines in Russia, and representatives from Sheremetyevo airport.
In his speech, Ambassador Manh emphasised that Vietnam Airlines’ flights have played a key role in boosting trade links as well as cultural ties between the two countries.
The opening of the air route from Sheremetyevo airport marks a significant event which has contributed to connecting the country to other cities throughout Russia and vice versa, noted Manh.
Le Thanh Dung, Chief Representative of Vietnam Airlines in Russia, said the airline’s plan to move its operations to Sheremetyevo airport, which possesses developed infrastructure, is a strategic decision. He expressed hope that the move will provide passengers with four-star quality service, comfort, and more convenience.
During the ceremony Ambassador Manh, along with representatives from both Vietnam Airlines and Sheremetyevo airport, cut the ribbon to launch the flights.
Mr. Dinis Pashkovsky, a representative from Sheremetyevo airport, expressed his joy at welcoming Vietnam Airlines as a new partner, noting that their co-operation has opened up fresh opportunities to form new connections between Russia and Vietnam, as well as further into Southeast Asia.
He added that Sheremetyevo airport will provide passengers with the best level of services and allow connecting flights from Vietnam to cities throughout Russia and Europe via Russian carrier Aeroflots, in addition to other airlines in the Sky Team Airline Alliance.
