Vietnam Airlines opens Beijing-Ho Chi Minh City air route

VOV.VN - Vietnam Airlines inaugurated its new direct air route between Beijing and Ho Chi Minh City on March 30 at Beijing Daxing International Airport in China.

The launch event was attended by Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Thanh Binh, Vietnam Airlines Chief Representative in China Truong Tran Ngoc Hung, along with officials from various agencies and Daxing International Airport.

In his speech, Truong Tran Ngoc Hung expressed Vietnam Airlines' honor in launching the new route, which links Beijing Daxing Airport with Ho Chi Minh City. Operating five flights per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays, the route aims to provide greater convenience for passengers traveling between southern Vietnam and Beijing.

Starting March 30, 2025, Vietnam Airlines will also increase the frequency of its Hanoi–Beijing service (from Noi Bai Airport to Beijing Capital Airport) from five flights per week to a daily schedule. This shows the airline’s commitment to China as a key market and its role as a vital bridge between Southeast Asia and China.

With the new route, Vietnam Airlines now operates six air links between Vietnam and China, offering 40 weekly flights that connect major cities such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. Each flight embodies the airline’s vision of "bringing the world to Vietnam and bringing Vietnam to the world."

Truong Tran Ngoc Hung expressed confidence that flight VN517 from Daxing to Ho Chi Minh City would not only serve valued passengers but also strengthen friendship and economic ties between Vietnam and China.

The new route is expected to meet the growing travel demand between the two countries. According to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam, over 3.7 million Chinese visitors arrived in Vietnam in 2024, marking a 214% increase from 2023 and making China the fastest-growing source market of the year.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary (1995–2025) and continuing the nearly 70-year legacy of Transport Air Regiment 919, Vietnam Airlines plans to launch or resume 15 international routes in 2025, expanding its network to destinations such as Italy, Denmark, Russia, and China.

By continuously expanding its flight network, the national flag carrier reinforces its role as a key connector in broadening Vietnam’s global reach. The airline is striving to reach the goal of welcoming 22–23 million international visitors to Vietnam this year while advancing its journey of sustainable growth and national development.
