Vietnam Airlines launches direct air route connecting Hanoi with Hangzhou
VOV.VN - National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines will launch a direct air route connecting Hanoi and Hangzhou on November 15, 2026, operating four return flights per week to connect the capital with a major economic, technological, and tourism centre in eastern China.
Flights on the Hanoi-Hangzhou air route will operate every Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday using Airbus A321 aircraft, with a flight duration of approximately three hours.
To mark the launch, Vietnam Airlines offers promotional round-trip fares starting from VND 7,250,000 (US$278), including taxes and fees.
The offer applies to tickets issued through October 26, 2026, for travel from November 22, 2026 to March 31, 2027, excluding peak periods. Lotusmiles members purchasing tickets through January 15, 2027 will earn double bonus miles.
With the addition of Hangzhou, Vietnam Airlines' direct air route network between Vietnam and China expands to seven routes, connecting four major cities: Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Hangzhou.
Nguyen Quang Trung, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines, stated "The Hanoi - Hangzhou air route represents the next step in Vietnam Airlines' strategy to expand its international route network. Amid market challenges, particularly fuel price fluctuation, launching this air route earlier than scheduled in the fourth quarter of 2026 demonstrates our proactiveness and determination to expand international connectivity, generate momentum for trade and tourism, and contribute to national economic growth."
As the capital of Zhejiang province and a major technology, e-commerce, and innovation hub in the Yangtze River Delta, Hangzhou serves as a strategic destination for both business and leisure travelers in eastern China.
Since early 2026, Vietnam Airlines has continuously expanded its international network with new air routes to Amsterdam, Colombo, Phuket, and Ahmedabad, while increasing flight frequencies on several air routes to Seoul, Tokyo, Osaka, Taipei, Kaohsiung, Singapore, Manila, Moscow, Melbourne, and Sydney.
Expanding the route network to major international economic and tourism centers shows Vietnam Airlines' strategy of proactive integration and cooperation expansion.
Direct air routes contribute to boosting trade, attracting international visitors, and strengthening Vietnam's links with key regional and global markets.
