Vietnam Airlines launches Ahmedabad - Hanoi air route

VOV.VN - Vietnam Airlines has launched a direct service between Ahmedabad and Hanoi, marking its fifth destination in India and bringing its total operations in the country to 25 round-trip flights per week.

The inaugural flight on the new Ahmedabad–Hanoi route departed Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on November 3. The service will operate four times a week, providing a direct link between Gujarat, in western India, and the Vietnamese capital.

The new route gives passengers from Gujarat and neighbouring areas a more convenient option for travelling to Vietnam, with onward connections available across the airline's domestic and international network. It is also expected to support tourism, trade and business exchanges between the two countries.

Nguyen Trung Hieu, Vietnam Airlines' chief representative in India, described the launch as part of the carrier’s commitment to expanding its presence in the Indian market and bringing Vietnam closer to Indian travellers.

India has evolved from a promising market into a key one for Vietnam Airlines, with carriers from both countries increasing capacity following recent adjustments to their bilateral air services agreement, he said.

He revealed As Vietnam's national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines is continuing to expand its Indian network and increase flight frequencies. From mid-December 2026, it plans to introduce daily services linking Delhi and Hanoi, as well as Bangalore and Hanoi.

The Ahmedabad–Hanoi route, launched on November 3, is another step in the airline’s efforts to meet growing demand for travel, tourism and business exchanges, while making it easier for people and companies in both countries to connect.

Gujarat offers considerable potential for tourism, trade and meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE). The new service is set to provide travellers with more convenient access to Hanoi and onward connections to destinations across Vietnam.

The launch comes amid growing travel demand between Vietnam and India. India is currently among the ten largest source markets for international visitors to Vietnam, making stronger air links increasingly important to unlocking opportunities in tourism, trade and investment.

By adding Ahmedabad to its network, Vietnam Airlines is further strengthening connectivity with one of India's dynamic economic regions and expanding the scope for closer exchanges between the two countries.
