VOV.VN - Low-cost carrier Vietjet Air signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Vladivostok International Airport on September 5 to boost co-operation in the transportation of passengers and the air cargo service within the framework of the Eastern Economic Forum 2019 in Russia’s Vladivostok city.

The signing is under the witness of Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung and Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Maxim Akimov along with senior leaders from both countries.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will facilitate the opening of direct flights between Vietnam and Russia in the future and help link with other destinations in the region through stopover flights.

Upon addressing the event, Vladivostok International Airport (VVO) President Aleksei Vasilchenko emphasized that the signing of the MoU will see the combination of VVO's facilities and operational experience with  Vietjet’s wide flight network and high quality services and aviation products in order to provide customers with a higher level of benefits.

The MoU will serve to meet customer’s growing demand for travel and cargo transportation through the opening of new air routes in the near future.

In his speech, Vietjet Deputy General Director Do Xuan Quang said that greater co-operation between the two sides will lay the foundations for Vietjet's plans to connect to Russia by 2020.

Indeed, the airline aims to provide Vietnamese people and travelers from regional countries with more flight opportunities, utilising Vietjet's modern fleet, high-quality aviation products, and world-class services.

The partnership will also contribute to bolstering the time-honoured relationship between Vietnam and Russia.

The signing of the co-operation agreement with VVO is part of Vietjet's business development strategy to expand its operations into Northeast Asia and other provinces throughout Russia.
