Vietjet to operate Da Nang flights to Osaka, Jakarta in December

VOV.VN - Vietjet will launch direct flights from Da Nang to Osaka (Japan) and Jakarta (Indonesia) in December 2026, strengthening the central Vietnamese city’s air links with Japan and Indonesia ahead of the year-end travel season.

The budget airline announced the new routes on November 4 at a signing ceremony for a comprehensive cooperation agreement for the 2026–2030 period between the Da Nang People’s Committee and Vietjet Aviation Joint Stock Company.

Under the plan, the Da Nang–Osaka (Kansai) route is scheduled to begin on December 20, with four flights per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. The Da Nang–Jakarta route is also set to commence on the same day, operating four round trips per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

The new routes are expected to improve air connectivity between Da Nang and the two markets, making it easier for Japanese and Indonesian travellersto explore the city’s beaches, cultural and heritage attractions, cuisine, golf courses and entertainment facilities.

The additional direct connections will also support Da Nang’s tourism promotion activities and efforts to attract more international visitors during the peak travel season in late 2026 and throughout 2027.

Between 2022 and 2026, Da Nang and Vietjetcooperated on route development, tourism promotion and market expansion. The airline was among the first to introduce direct flights linking Da Nang with India and also coordinated charter flights from Russia and several Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) markets.

These initiatives helped diversify visitor sources, improve access to emerging markets and support the recovery and growth of Da Nang’s tourism industry.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, vice chairwoman of the Da Nang municipal People's Committee, expressed hope that Vietjet would build on the results of previous cooperation and further expand its network serving Da Nang.

She highlighted potential markets including India, Indonesia, Japan and Australia, as well as other international destinations, noting that stronger air connectivity would help diversify visitor sources, boost tourism growth and enhance Da Nang’s position as a regional and international destination.

Da Nang is entering a new development phase with expanded geographical space and economic potential. Under the Politburo’s Resolution No. 26 dated August 22, 2026, the city has been identified as one of Vietnam’s three major tourism growth centres by 2030.

This orientation places greater demands on the city's connectivity, competitiveness and destination quality. Aviation plays a particularly important role, not only in bringing visitors to the city but also in opening up opportunities for trade, investment and the promotion of Da Nang internationally.
