Vietjet Air to open routes from Haiphong to Seoul and Bangkok
Budget carrier VietJet Air will soon operate two international routes from Vietnam’s northern port city of Haiphong to Seoul, the Republic of Korea and Bangkok, Thailand, bringing the total flights departing from Haiphong to nine.
Accordingly, the Haiphong–Seoul route is scheduled to open on December 12 with four flights a week every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, while the Haiphong–Bangkok route will be operated from November 9 with five return flights a week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
This was announced at an investment promotion conference in Haiphong recently, which was attended by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
Speaking at the event, Vietjet Chairwoman Nguyen Thanh Ha said that as a socioeconomic centre of the country’s northeast region and with its favourable geographic location, Hai Phong possessed a strong basis for developing tourism, particularly tourist products and services targeting foreign visitors.
With the two new routes, Vietjet expects to facilitate the travel of residents and visitors while boosting trade and investment in the city, she added.
As of August 30, 2016, Vietjet has conducted over 100,000 flights and has carried nearly two million passengers to and from the city of Hai Phong. It is also the largest airline currently operating at the city’s Cat Bi International Airport.
