Tourism sector enjoys growth opportunities

VOV.VN - Vietnam’s tourism industry is expected to see the arrival of more foreign visitors this year as a result of the opening of more direct flights and an increase in flight frequency from destinations such as India, Thailand, and Hong Kong (China) to Vietnam during October and early November.

Most notably, travel demand between the country and Hong Kong (China) has seen a significant increase. According to the General Statistics Office, Vietnam welcomed approximately 48,200 visitors from Hong Kong during the first ten months of the year, a year-on-year rise of 95 per cent.

Cathay Pacific Airways recently announced plans to operate an additional two flights of its Cathay Dragon service each week between Hanoi and Hong Kong, starting from late October 2019.

Passengers will be able to depart from Hanoi to Hong Kong (China) and vice versa every Thursday and Sunday morning.

Moreover, travelers will also benefit from Cathay Pacific's extensive flight network that connects 200 destinations worldwide, including popular travel destinations such as Japan, Europe, and North America.

Mr Jason Choi, Country Manager of Vietnam and Cambodia for Cathay Pacific Airways, expressed his hope that providing passengers with additional flight options and greater connectivity to global destinations will serve to help the country’s tourism industry thrive.

Cathay Pacific, along with its subsidiary Cathay Dragon, currently operates 40 flights per week to Vietnam.

Tourists travelling to the nation by air has undergone a significant increase in recent times. In October 2019 alone, roughly 1.3 million foreign visitors  came to the country via air travel, up 38.6 per cent on-year.
