Top Vietnamese destinations draw international tourists in first half
VOV.VN - Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, Hanoi, and Phu Quoc remained the most popular destinations for international visitors to Vietnam during the first half of this year, particularly among travelers from China and the Republic of Korea (RoK).

According to the National Statistics Office, Vietnam welcomed nearly 11 million international arrivals during the reviewed period, up 21% year-on-year. China and the RoK were the country’s two largest source markets, accounting for about 46% of total arrivals.
Travel platform Agoda reported that China has rebounded strongly, climbing from fourth place in 2024 to second place this year. This signals a solid recovery of outbound Chinese tourism, with Vietnam emerging as a key destination for both business and leisure.
Thailand also entered the top five source markets for the first time, highlighting closer tourism ties between the two neighbouring countries, the website noted.
Agoda listed Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, Hanoi, and Phu Quoc as the five most in-demand destinations for international travelers in 2025.
Notably, Korean tourists showed a strong preference for islands and coastal cities, especially Nha Trang, Da Nang, and Phu Quoc, drawn by their beaches, vibrant culture, and water-based activities such as snorkeling and island-hopping. Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City also ranked high, thanks to their mix of traditional charm and modern experiences.
Chinese visitors, meanwhile, tended to favor tropical island resorts and major urban centers. Ho Chi Minh City topped their list, followed by Hanoi, with its rich history and cultural landmarks. Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, and Da Nang were also popular, offering a balance between relaxation and exploration, Agoda wrote.
