Three Vietnamese cities named among world’s 50 most attractive tourism destinations

VOV.VN - Nha Trang, Hanoi, and Da Nang have been named among the world’s 50 most attractive tourism cities in the Global Tourism City Attractiveness Index, released by Yanolja Research, the Republic of Korea’s leading private travel and tourism institute.

Nha Trang in southcentral Khanh Hoa province ranked 31st overall among 191 cities surveyed, jumping 16 places from last year. Central Da Nang city and capital city Hanoi followed at 39th and 41st, up seven and six spots, respectively.

In the Asia rankings, Nha Trang placed 18th, Da Nang 20th, Hanoi 22nd, and Ho Chi Minh City 27th.

Japan’s Osaka claimed the top spot globally, rising from third place in 2024. It was followed by Paris (France), Kyoto (Japan), New York (US), and Seoul (Republic of Korea).

The index evaluates cities based on key categories such as Urban Aesthetics and Natural Scenery, Culture and History, Experiential Tourism Contents, and Hospitality.

Nha Trang,  received high marks for its experiential tourism offerings, ranking 18th in this category, higher than any other Vietnamese city. In the Hospitality category, Hanoi placed 20th, while Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang ranked 33rd, 34th, and 36th, respectively.

Hanoi was also the only Vietnamese city to make the Top 50 for Culture and History, ranking 48th.

The Global Tourism City Attractiveness Index was developed by Yanolja Research in collaboration with Purdue University’s CHRIBA and Kyung Hee University’s Center for H&T Analytics. It serves as an objective tool to assess the appeal of global tourism cities based on social data analysis, with applications in marketing strategy, policy planning, and business innovation.
