Three local destinations among Asia’s 10 cooling getaways for Singaporeans
VOV.VN - Channel News Asia has named three Vietnamese destinations - Sa Pa in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai, Da Lat in the Central Highlands of Lam Dong, and Ba Na Hills in the central city of Da Nang among 10 cooling getaways in Asia to escape Singapore’s scorching heat.
The report notes Sa Pa is accessible via an eight-hour sleeper train ride from Hanoi, offering visitors a refreshing arrival. With its year-round cool climate, Sa Pa remains a perfect getaway even during the hottest months from June to August.
Beyond its pleasant weather, Channel News Asia says, Sa Pa captivates with vibrant villages, cultural homestays, rice terraces, and waterfalls, all accessible through guided hikes and motorbike tours.
“You can conquer Southeast Asia’s lofty peak, Fansipan, on a hike, or hop onboard a fancy funicular ride for the smug satisfaction of basking in the panoramic vistas without breaking a single bead of perspiration,” it said.
While Sa Pa charms with its rustic beauty, Ba Na Hills, perched at an altitude of 1,489 metres on Nui Chua Mountain, offers a slightly more curated experience.
Located just 35 kilometres from Da Nang's city centre, it’s easily accessed by bus, private hire, or GrabCar. The resort is famous for its iconic Golden Hand Bridge, with two massive stone hands lifting the walkway through the clouds, a viral sensation since its 2018 debut.
The third position goes to Da Lat, dubbed the “Paris of Vietnam”. Nestled in the lush Central Highlands region, Da Lat is an eight-hour bus ride, or a swift domestic flight, from Ho Chi Minh City.
“Here, European allure can be found in the local picturesque railway stations, churches, and accommodations that are themselves attractions,” the author writes.
The website suggests that holidaymakers should take the rich history of Cadasa Resort Dalat, which boasts French-style villas once cherished by artists, aristocrats, and politicians, or visit Dalat Wonder Resort, where hillside bungalows overlook the Tuyen Lam Lake and pine forests.
Other locations to feature on the list include Cameron Highlands, Kundasang, and Genting Highlands of Malaysia; Khao Kho, Khao Yai, and Chiang Rai of Thailand; and Alishan of Taiwan (China).
