Thailand Tourism Festival 2019
Thailand Tourism Festival 2019 will promote environmentally friendly travel and present inspirational and attractive tourism products and services to stimulate more travel bookings to both major and emerging destinations.
In this festival, there will be five "tourism villages,” representing the regions of Thailand plus two additional zones. According to Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Yuthasak Supasorn, each zone of the tourism village comes with its own theme or stage for activities and performances.
There is also a "Reduce-Reuse-Recycle” waste initiative zone to help raise awareness and promote responsible sustainable tourism through various activities. The five-day festival will also encourage visitors and Thai nationals to boldly step out and travel beyond traditional destinations and experience Thailand from a new perspective and point of view.
It is expected that at least 600,000 people will join Thailand Tourism Festival 2019, which is likely to generate 400 million baht, an increase from 390 million baht at Thailand Tourism Festival 2018.
Thailand welcomed 38.1 million international tourists in 2018, compared to 35.38 million in 2017. Tourism earnings from international visitors in 2018 was 1.99 trillion baht.
When combined with tourism earnings from local tourists, Thailand’s total tourism income amounted to 3.05 trillion baht, an increase of 5 percent over that of 2017.
As for 2019, TAT has set a target for Thailand’s tourism income at between 3.3 and 3.4 trillion baht, which accounts for 20 percent of GDP.
