Terra cotta park in Hoi An wins Ashui Awards 2016

Thanh Ha terra cotta park in the Unesco-listed ancient town of Hoi An was named as the construction structure of the year at the Ashui Awards 2016 by the Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association, Tuoi Tre reports.

Designed by Nhaviet Netcom, the park was built in 2011 with a total area of over 6,500 square meters and has been put into operation since 2015. Its two main buildings were inspired from Champa’s culture and the concepts of two typical kinds of kiln of Thanh Ha pottery village, which symbolize yin and yang.

The park has been known as one of the most unique pottery museums in Vietnam.

The park has a pottery museum, an outdoor exhibition area, Nam Dieu craft village, a camp for artists and a trade promotion center.

Especially, an outdoor exhibition area features large pottery sculptures and miniatures of outstanding architectural sites of Vietnam, including the Hue Imperial Citadel, My Son Sanctuary, Hoi An town, Nha Rong Wharf, Notre Dame Cathedral and the Temple of Literature.

The miniatures of unique architectural structures in the world include the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Pyramid, the Colosseum, and Arc De Triumphe.

An award ceremony for Ashui Awards 2016 will be held in Hanoi on January 14.
