Tan Son Nhat int’l airport works to better serve passengers during Tet

Domestic airlines plan to increase the frequency of flights by 8-10 percent during the upcoming Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday from January 20 to February 19 compared to the same period last year, according to a representative from the Ho Chi Minh City-based Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

Accordingly, up to 806-820 flights per day have been planned for the upcoming holidays, up 70 flights from last year’s period. There will be 900 flights departing from and landing in Tan Son Nhat airport on February 2 and about 890 flights on February 10.

From November 25 to February 15, national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines will add an extra 1,956 flights with around 560,000 domestic passengers to its schedules. Budget airline Vietjet will also run an additional 1,000 flights, up 20 percent from off-peak season, while Jetstar will launch another 1,014 flights.

In order to meet passengers’ demand during Tet, the airport will lengthen conveyor belts and add another 10 check-in counters for the domestic terminal.

From January 15-February 15, several outlets will be shut down to better serve passengers.

The airport will also temporarily cancel the repair and maintenance of terminal equipment 15 days before and 10 days after Tet.

From January 26 to February 12, youth unions of Tan Son Nhat international airport and Vietnam Aviation Academy will voluntarily guide passengers with procedures and luggage during peak times.

Calligraphy paintings will also be presented to passengers taking domestic flights during 9-11am and 2-4pm every day.
