Ta Van named one of Asia’s top highland retreats by SCMP

VOV.VN - In a recent feature on Asia’s top highland villages, the South China Morning Post (SCMP) has ranked Ta Van village fifth, praising its serene setting, authentic culture, and warm local hospitality.

Author Tim Pile wrote that Ta Van village offers a serene escape for travelers seeking an authentic mountain vibe. Set in a verdant valley, this photogenic hamlet is home to the Giay and H’mong people, whose traditional stilt houses can be seen dotted throughout the landscape.

Staying with local families at places such as the Ta Van Heaven Homestay where rooms go from US$18 per night means hearty home-cooked meals and genuine hospitality are on offer, it added.

The SCMP suggested that visitors should rent motorbikes for about US$8 to US$12 per day from companies such as Trekking Sapa to explore further afield.

Ta Van village is perfect for those looking to leave the crowds behind and immerse themselves in Vietnam’s rich culture and scenery, the article shared.

Topping the list is Mae Kampong in Thailand, a breezy village which is nestled amid rolling hills and located about an hour’s drive east of Chiang Mai in northern region. Others to make the Top 6 destinations are Hundar  (India), Ella (Sri Lanka), Huangling (China), Ta Van village (Vietnam), and Shirakawa (Japan).
