Stunning Cave of Bats in Moc Chau in north-western region

VOV.VN - Hang Doi (Cave of Bats) in Moc Chau district, considered the most beautiful of its kind in the northwestern province of Son La and the whole region, attracts a large number of tourists.

The Cave of Bats is located in the northeast of Moc Chau town, Moc Chau district. Pictured is the exterior view of the Cave, which is situated next to a smaller cave named Trinh cave.

Covering an area of 6,915 square meters, the Cave of Bats was previously referred as Water Cave by Thai ethnic minority people.  Pictured is the entrance to the Cave which looks like  the mouth of a dragon.

The rocky block in the middle of the cave’s entrance is called ‘the tongue of dragon’.

Stalactite blocks in different shapes are associated with legends. Many archaeological relics, cultural layers and artefacts in the cave have been discovered, serving as a proof of life of ancient Vietnamese people. Pictured is the ‘mouth of dragon’ inside the cave.



Buddhist altars are displayed inside the cave.

Beautiful stalactites and stalagmites.


A dry lake locating in the middle of the cave is regarded as an aquarium. A turtle-shaped rock is situated in the lake.


With special shape, the stalactite is called ‘Bodhisattva’.




‘The gate to heaven’ is for adventurers.

The Cave served as a revolutionary base during the anti -US and French wars.

The Cave of Bats is recognised as a beauty spot at national level by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on January 24, 1998.
