On the list Son Doong Cave came in fifth position, beating off competition from several well-known places such as Arctic Bay in Greenland, South Everest Base Camp in Nepal, and Norway.

Despite the cave’s high ranking, it still fell behind Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, the Inca Trail leading to Machu Picchu in Peru, the Grand Canyon in the United States, and Thrihnukagigur Volcano in Iceland.

Dave stated that Son Doong Cave is a renowned destination located in Quang Binh province. It is the world’s largest natural cave and promises unforgettable memories for visitors.

The television station said that due to features such as rugged terrain, visitors were required to register for a tour in advance. Moreover, it is necessary to go with an experienced team with specialised equipment.

Son Doong Cave, was first discovered in 2009 by a group of British scientists from the British Cave Research Association after conducting an extensive survey of the area.

Located approximately 500km south of Hanoi, Son Dong cave is more than 200m wide, 150m high, and about 9km long. The cave was originally formed between two and five million years ago. It is home to both a jungle and a river, whilst it could fit a 40-storey skyscraper inside.

Previously, the US’ Huffington Post had described Son Doong Cave as one of earth’s standout destinations.
