Quang Ninh waives entrance fees at Yen Tu complex through 2028
VOV.VN - Northern Quang Ninh province will waive entrance fees at the Yen Tu relics and scenic complex for three years, from 2026 through December 31, 2028, under a resolution approved by the provincial People’s Council on February 5.
According to the provincial People’s Committee, the move is intended to acknowledge the contributions of local residents, monks, Buddhists and visitors to the protection, preservation and preparation of the heritage nomination dossier. It also aims to stimulate tourism and increase visitor numbers at a time when arrivals to Yen Tu have shown a declining trend.
The Yen Tu – Vinh Nghiem – Con Son, Kiep Bac complex was recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site at the organisation’s 47th session in July 2025. Currently, entrance fees at Yen Tu stand at VND40,000 for adults and VND20,000 for children.
At the same session, the People’s Council also approved adjustments to the financial mechanism for the Ha Long Bay -Yen Tu World Heritage Management Board.
The management board was established on November 1, 2025 through the merger of the Ha Long Bay Management Board, the Bai Tu Long National Park Management Board, and the relics and scenic sites management authority.
Following the merger, the body manages two World Heritage sites, four special national relics, national forests and an ASEAN national park spanning from Dong Trieu to Van Don, with a current workforce of 507 staff.
The provincial People’s Committee said the existing mechanism allowing the board to retain 11% of Ha Long Bay entrance fee revenue was no longer sufficient to support the expanded organisation, given increases in base salaries, regional minimum wages and ongoing maintenance and infrastructure repair needs.
As a result, the People’s Council approved raising the retained share to 26% of total entrance fee revenue from Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long, with the remaining 74% to be remitted to the state budget.
With projected 2026 revenue from Ha Long Bay entrance fees exceeding VND1.011 trillion, the 26% retention rate would amount to about VND276 billion, providing sufficient funding for operations and assigned tasks.
