Hanoi among world’s best cities in which to drink beer
VOV.VN - Alongside renowned beer-drinking cities such as Dublin (Ireland) and Munich (Germany), Hanoi (Vietnam) has been named among ideal cities globally in which to drink beer, according to a survey conducted by travel website Booking.com.
The capital boasts many beautiful attractions, is home to delicious dishes such as pho, a type of noodle soup, and spring rolls, and has an abundance of tasty and cheap beer options for both locals and visitors.
Hanoi "is a must-visit beer haven where you can see beer lovers sitting on plastic stools with a pint of bia hoi in hand," U.S.-based Booking.com said in a statement.
When visiting the capital, guests should sample local staples such as Bia Hoi (draught beer), the travel website wrote.
The survey was conducted among a sample of adults who have traveled for business or leisure in the past 12 months, and must be planning to travel in the next 12 months. In total 47,728 respondents across 28 countries and territories were polled.
According to Booking.com, the intersection of Ta Hien and Luong Ngoc Quyen streets in the capital’s Old Quarter, dubbed a 'beer hub," is a famous address to enjoy ice-cold glasses of Bia Hoi on plastic chairs, which has become part of Hanoi culture.
Vietnam consumed more than 4.6 billion litres of beer in 2019, an increase of more than 10% from the previous year. However, the consumption dropped to estimated 4.4 billion litres in 2020 due to the enforcement of the Law on Alcohol Harm Prevention and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
