Philippine Airlines launches direct flight from Manila to Da Nang
VOV.VN - Philippine Airlines’ flight PR585 landed at Da Nang International Airport, at 12:45 p.m. on July 1, bringing 193 passengers to the central city of Vietnam and marking the official launch of the direct route between Manila (Philippines) and Da Nang.

The new route will initially operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, using an Airbus A321 aircraft with 199 seats, including 12 in business class. Starting in November 2025, the frequency is expected to increase to four weekly flights.
A special welcome ceremony was held at the airport, featuring a water cannon salute, traditional cultural performances, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, flowers and souvenirs for passengers, and photo opportunities.
An hour later, Philippine Airlines and its ground services partner hosted a send-off ceremony at the international departures area for passengers on flight PR586 from Da Nang to Manila.
Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Thi Hoai An, deputy director of the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, emphasised that the launch of the Manila – Da Nang route coincides with a new phase of the city’s development, with expanded geographical and tourism offerings.
She noted that with this new air route, the total number of weekly flights from Manila to Da Nang now reaches 12, helping boost visitor exchange and strengthen tourism ties between the two cities.
Meanwhile, Philippine Airlines President Richard Nuttall expressed excitement about the new route, saying it would not only bring more travelers from Central Vietnam to Manila but also provide convenient onward connections to other destinations in the Philippines, as well as to the US, Canada, Australia, and Japan.
Statistics show Da Nang welcomed more than 65,000 Filipino visitors in 2024, and more than 49,000 in just the first five months of 2025 along, a 2.26-fold increase compared to the same period in 2024.
Currently, Philippine Airlines operates a total of 24 weekly direct flights connecting Vietnam with the Philippines, linking Manila with Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and now Da Nang.
