Passengers passing through Noi Bai airport hit record high

VOV.VN - The number of passengers traveling by air via Hanoi-based Noi Bai International Airport during the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival, increased sharply compared to the previous year with the figure tripling on the peak day.

The escalating rise in the number of passengers can largely be attributed to the removal of quarantine regulations in several localities nationwide in the days leading up to the Lunar New Year.

Before Tet, the airport served roughly 400 flights both departing and landing, with roughly 41,000 passengers on January 29, nearly doubling the figure of the previous year.

After Tet, Noi Bai saw a total of 372 flights, with 63,500 passengers on peak day of February 6, tripling the figure against the same period from last year.

On February 7, the number of people passing through Noi Bai airport is estimated to stand at more than 52,800 passengers, with the peak period of travel expected to last until February 14.

A representative of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) noted that airlines are devising plans aimed at increasing flights from now until February 12 in order to meet the growing demand for travel to the southern region after Tet.

The CAAV also revealed that airlines have initiated plans to offer an increase of more than 100 flights from February 6 to February 12, mainly on the Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City route.

During this period, passengers are advised to abide by COVID-19 prevention and control regulations. In line with this, they should don face masks and make medical declarations on the PC-COVID application before heading to the airport.
