Passengers flood largest airports on final day of national holidays
VOV.VN - The number of passengers passing through Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat international airports reached a record level on May 3, the final day of the holiday period, including National Reunification Day on April 30 and May Day on May 1.
The authorities of Noi Bai International Airport said the number of travelers at the airport is projected to hit a record of approximately 74,000.
In line with these figures, the northern airport received over 2,000 visitors during each peak hour for departing passenger flights, with peak hours ranging from 6:00 a.m. to 20:00 p.m. This includes 2,500 visitors during each peak hour for arriving flights, with the peak hours ranging from midday to 23:00 p.m.
Furthermore, a representative at Tan Son Nhat International Airport said it anticipates that the airport will receive over 100,000 visitors, including more than 11,100 foreign tourists.
According to details given by the Southern Airport Authority, the airport plans to welcome over 650 flights on May 3, including 601 passenger flights and 42 cargo flights.
The two airport authorities have therefore requested that airlines and relevant agencies deploy more personnel during the holiday in a bid to ensure the smooth movement of people and vehicles.
In order to ease traffic pressure on roads leading towards the airport during peak hours, international airports have encouraged passengers to use public transport as opposed to private vehicles.
Furthermore, they also recommend that people complete online check-ins as a means of avoiding long waits.
