Number of tourists to Vietnam surges during Tet

VOV.VN - Vietnam saw a huge spike in tourist numbers during the Lunar New Year Festival or Tet.

The Ho Chi Minh City-based Saigontourist Travel Service Company served over 50,000 visitors, up 20% from last year. Most foreign tourists came from France, Germany, China, Russia, and the US. 

In Hanoi, customers booking for tours during the festival with the Vietrantour Travel Company rose 150%, amounting to 30,000.

Tens of thousands of visitors flocked to botanical gardens and entertainment centers in Ho Chi Minh City. Hanoi received more than 230,000 visitors, 7.5% more than last year. 

More than 70,000 tourists, including 31,500 foreigners, visited relic sites in the Hue Imperial City during the Tet (Lunar New Year) festival, which lasted from January 26 to February 1.

The provincial tourism sector grossed more than US$3.7 million in revenue.

Meanwhile, the central city of Danang attracted 206,000 tourists during the Tet holiday.
