New Zealand media praise Vietnam’s wellness resorts
VOV.VN - The New Zealand Herald recently published an article by journalist Christine Retschlag highlighting Vietnam’s rapid rise as a booming spa and wellness destination.
According to the Australian reporter, Vietnam’s growing popularity in the luxury yet affordable wellness travel segment came as no surprise, as the country offers therapies catering to a wide range of visitors, from high-end experiences to budget-friendly options.
She pointed out that Vietnam had become an increasingly sought-after spa destination, citing the 2025 Spa Trends Report by SpaSeekers, which recorded a 175% surge in Google searches for “spa in Vietnam” in 2024, just one year after the country was named Asia’s Best Spa Destination at the 2023 World Spa Awards.
Retschlag further highlighted the abundance of wellness resorts offering high-value experiences at accessible prices. Among the standout treatments were detox hydrotherapy circuits combining steam rooms, saunas, ice baths and hydro showers, paired with full-body exfoliation and foot reflexology. She also described a one-hour sound healing session focused on the body’s seven chakras.
In addition, she expressed strong impressions of the Azerai Asian Wave massage, which blends Swedish, Thai and Hawaiian Lomi Lomi techniques with Japanese Shiatsu therapy, as well as stress-relief hair treatments and acupressure massages.
What particularly delighted her was the thoughtful post-treatment experience, where guests were served a light refreshment, something she noted was rare at spas elsewhere in the world. For therapies designed to promote emotional balance, clients were also guided through meditation and calming chants afterward.
Retschlag concluded that deep relaxation and renewed energy were the most memorable outcomes of her wellness journey in Vietnam.
