New express ship to ply HCMC-Vung Tau route

Green Technology Co. will put into service an express ship plying the route between HCMC and Vung Tau next month after completing construction of the ship on March 15, said the company’s leader.

Tran Song Hai, general director of the company, said the GreenlinesDP K6 boat, built within five months, is equipped with two Rolls-Royce/MTU S60 machines allowing the ship to run at a maximum speed of 24 nautical miles per hour.

The ship can seat 96 passengers plus a VIP room for eight and a bar for five people.

Apart from the HCMC-Vung Tau route, the company will launch express ship services between Cua Viet and Con Co off Quang Tri Province next month.

Since early this year, old hydrofoils running between HCMC and Vung Tau have been forced to stop operations due to safety reasons.

Therefore, some transport enterprises have invested in new vessels to transport passengers on this waterway.

Currently, there are three newly-build high-speed ships operating on this route.
