Nationwide destinations expect surge in traveller numbers for five-day holiday
VOV.VN - Tourist hotspots across Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Phan Thiet in the South, and mountainous areas like Sa Pa and Ha Giang in the North, are expected to see a surge in visitor numbers during the five-day holiday period from April 30 to May 4.

In Ho Chi Minh City, hundreds of businesses launched promotional programmes to attract tourists, offering discounts on city tours, new tourism products, and displays of One Commune One Product (OCOP) goods in celebration of the 50th anniversary of southern liberation and national reunification.
According to Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, director of the city’s Department of Tourism, historical and cultural tours have been fully booked. To enhance the visitor experience, QR codes have been introduced to help tourists explore a wide range of local attractions. Popular tours include visits to Thanh An Commune in Can Gio District and the historic Hoc Mon revolutionary base.
Beyond the southern hub, destinations nationwide reported impressive hotel occupancy rates ranging from 80% to 90%, reflecting a strong rebound in domestic tourism. Data from online travel platform Mustgo shows that Sa Pa remains the most sought-after location in the north, with hotel bookings reaching up to 90%. Nearby, Ha Giang is also expected to attract a high number of adventure travellers, especially motorcyclists seeking scenic mountain routes.
In the central region, provinces such as Nghe An, Ha Tinh, and Quang Binh are also experiencing high demand, particularly from April 30 to May 2.
In the south, Phu Quoc Island stands out with room occupancy ranging from 70% to 85%, and many private villas fully booked. Similarly, coastal destinations like Nha Trang, Quy Nhon, and Phan Thiet are seeing occupancy rates of 70% to 80%. Notably, many four- and five-star hotels in Quy Nhon have reported full bookings between April 30 and May 2.
Most tourists traveling during the holiday are domestic, and several hotels have removed additional surcharges to support travellers amid rising airfares.
Tran Quoc Hung, head of product development at Mustgo, noted that the tourism sector has shown strong signs of recovery during this national holiday, with increased interest from both domestic and international travellers. He emphasised that tour operators and service providers have made thorough preparations to meet demand, boosting momentum for the upcoming peak summer season.
