MICHELIN Guide Singapore 2019

VOV.VN - Last month, MICHELIN unveiled the Bib Gourmand selection of restaurants and street food establishments and the MICHELIN starred restaurants.

Restaurants awarded Bib Gourmand indicate that their menu is of high-quality and is priced at a maximum of S$45. This year, 58 establishments of the city-state are being recognised with the distinction. More extravagant options include fine-dining restaurants such as Les Amis and Odette which have been awarded 3 MICHELIN stars according to the MICHELIN Guide Singapore.

MICHELIN Bib Gourmand Highlights:

·         Chen’s Mapo Tofu (6A Shenton Way, #02-29 Downtown Gallery): This is the more affordable fast-food version of Shisen Hanten, managed by the same chef. The famous namesake dish is reincarnated as mapo don, literally mapo tofu on a bowl of Japanese rice. It's more numbing than spicy, with silky tofu and ground pork. Dan dan mien is another favourite, with the choice between soup and dressed noodles. Szechwan popcorn chicken with a crispy crust and juicy centre packs serious oomph and is also worth trying.

·         Whole Earth (76 Peck Seah St): "Vegetarian cuisine for non-vegetarians" is how the restaurant’s owners, Phyllis and Wood, describe their longstanding Thai and Peranakan restaurant. They wanted diners to feel they were eating meat even though they weren't and is achieve through an understanding of textures and flavours and the clever use of soy product and tofu. With dishes like tom yam soup and classic assam pedas, the food is full of flavour as well as being good for you - and it's great value too.

MICHELIN THREE STARS - Exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey

·         Les Amis (Cyberport 1, Shop 320 The Arcade): Opened in 1994 and firmly established as a culinary institution in Singapore, Les Amis has reached excellence. Guided by an impressive attention to the smallest detail, the restaurant offers a contemporary cuisine of French inspiration that sublimates high-quality products. The wine list, with more than 3,000 references, is rightly considered one of the most dazzling in the Asian continent.

·         Odette (1 St Andrew's Rd, #01-04 National Gallery): Located in the city centre, restaurant Odette emphasizes a comprehensive experience in a discreet and intimate setting as elegant as the setting of the plates. International flavors and subtle Asian touches perfectly match with highly mastered French technique here.
